In Memory

Suzanne Blaco (Johnson)

Marjorie Suzanne Johnson was born May 6th, 1944 to Wilbur & Monica Blaco.  She departed this mortal life and entered life eternal on March 2nd, 2024.  She graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1962 and from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in 1965.  She had a desire to experience as many aspects of nursing as she possibly could throughout her career.  As a result, she worked as a staff nurse, as head nurse of a pediatric unit, at a psychiatric facility, as a circulating nurse in surgery, in special procedures, as a school nurse, and finally as a public health nurse.  She retired from nursing in 2010.  She always sought to provide tender, caring, compassionate care to those she ministered to.

She was married briefly in the 1970’s.  The blessing of that time was the arrival of her daughter, Kirsten.  She was devoted to Kirsten and her family, especially to her two granddaughters, Kaydi and Savannah.

In 1991, she married the love of her life, Douglas Johnson.  Together, they spent 33 years of wonderful living together and were totally devoted to one another.  They loved each other unconditionally and adored one another absolutely.  He is an Episcopal priest and so Sue (as she liked to be known) became the perfect soul mate as she went along with her husband to various locales serving the Lord.

Besides being active in her local congregation of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Blue Springs, Missouri, she had also been quite active in the Mid America Episcopal Cursillo and in the Daughters of the King.  Additionally, she had been a member of PEO (a women’s philanthropic organization) throughout much of her adult life.

She is survived by her husband Douglas, of the home; her daughter Kirsten Book and son-in-law Dana Book, Topeka, KS,; granddaughters Kaydi and Savannah Book, Topeka, KS; sister Judy Lesh, Independence, MO; brother Tim Blaco, Kansas City, MO; and nephews and nieces.  Also, sisters-in-law Anne O’Leary, Zionsville, IN; Janie Johnson, Jefferson City, MO; and Bobbie Johnson, Ashburn, VA.

Memorials are requested for the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Blue Springs, MO.  Sue’s Memorial Service will be April 20th at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Blue Springs, MO.  Visitation will be at 10:00 am, followed by her Memorial Service at 11:00 am. A reception will take place after the memorial service.

The world has not known a more loving, tender, caring, compassionate soul than Sue.

May her soul now rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon her.  May she truly rise in glory everlasting.
