In Memory

Carol Dunbar (Shultz)

              Carol Ann Shultz

January 27th, 1944 – November 15th, 2023, Liberty, MO died peacefully surrounded by loved ones after courageously battling cancer for two years.

Carol was born on January 27th, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri to Jack and Betty Dunbar. Carol lived in Kansas City her entire life where she graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1962. She later attended the University of Missouri- Columbia and graduated from UMKC with an English degree. On June 4th, 1966 Carol was united in marriage to Ronnie H. Shultz at Good Shepard Episcopal Church in Kansas City.

Carol taught English out of college at her alma mater, NKC High School. Her love for reading and writing showed in her teaching. She loved her students and the feeling was mutual. Carol later raised her two children, Chris and Tracey, where she was room mother at every holiday party and enjoyed several hobbies with friends such as bowling and golfing. Carol returned to teaching when Chris and Tracey were in high school. She retired from New Mark Middle School, where she made many lifelong, dear friends, after teaching eighth grade English for 18 years.

Carol will be remembered for her loving, caring and thoughtful ways for her family and friends. She was known for sending cards and notes for birthdays, congratulations, anniversaries, encouragement or just "checking in". She was also known for her funny sense of humor even until her very last days. We will greatly miss Carol's positivity and her ear-to-ear, contagious smile.

Carol's memory will be kept alive through her loving husband of 57 years, Ronnie Shultz; son, Christopher Howard Shultz (Kristin); and daughter, Tracey Jacqueline Alcorn (Tyler); her four grandchildren Jack and Ally Shultz, Annie and Caroline Alcorn; sister and brother-in-law Donna and Fred Reinke, brother-in-law Uwe Hamdorf; and one nephew, Erich Hamdorf, and three nieces, Cheryl Hamdorf, Julie Somora and Cara O'Riley.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Satelli, Hillary Marshall, KU Cancer Center, Ascend Hospice, nurse Kim Adkison, Chris and Kristin, and all dear friends and Wynbrick neighbors for their countless hours of care and love for Ron and Carol.

There will be a service on January 5th, 2024 at 1pm at Liberty United Methodist Church: 1001 Sunset Avenue, Liberty, MO 64068 followed by a visitation at Cascones: 3737 N Oak Trafficway, KCMO.
