Ronald Lee Rhodefer, of Etna, CA passed away with family in his home on November 14, 2021.  Ron was born on December 13, 1943 in Moberly, Missouri to his parents Charles and Doris Rhodefer.

Ron married Sandra McQuerrey of Kansas City, where they had their daughter, Shannon, in 1969.  Ron and his family moved to California when he was 30 to work for Hughes Airwest Airlines in the Bay Area.  They then moved to Yreka in 1975 where he went to work for Siskiyou County Public Works, retiring in 1994.

Ron later re-married to Malia Plevney in 2004 whom he had known for many years.  Ron and Malia enjoyed traveling, working on their home, and, motorcycle riding together throughout the west.  Ron jumped at the opportunity to purchase his most favored house in Scott Valley, located on the Scott River where he lived with Malia and her daughter, Mary Lou, and enjoyed his final days.

Ron was an industrious person who enjoyed being outdoors and had many mechanical hobbies.  He always enjoyed riding his bicycle as a child, which grew to a love of motorcycles as an adult.  He even made several trips to Alaska on his motorcycle.  Ron also had a keen interest in short wave radios and belonged to a radio club where he refined his interests.   Ron enjoyed sailing and boating, including sailing to Hawaii.  Mostly Ron enjoyed spending time with his wife Malia, family, friends, and his grandchildren.  He rarely missed a sporting event or school function that included his grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife Malia, and her children, Fredrick, Mary Lou, and

Wil, and his daughter, Shannon Black, husband Gary Black, and their children Delaney Hansen, Bice, and Will Black.

Ronny and I became friends in the 4th grade. He was a genuine good guy, a pleasure to be around and a lifelong buddy.
