Charlie rode a Cushman Eagle with Roger Owens and I.  Charlie and Roger went to college in Springfield MO. I was working weekends at Flash Market in Riverside ( I went to NWMO State) and Charlie  came home one week end and due to my working we did not get together that weekend but he came by to see me before he picked up his riders four from our class and one from 1961.  I knew everone in the car all were killed in a wreak that Charlie tried to avoid by going off the highway down by Bolliver MO. and was hit head on by two drunk service men on their way to Viet Nam. in the ditch.  This was verified by a Highway Patrol Officer who witnessed the wreak from about  a quarter mile behind Charlie.  I have missed Charlie for 49 years now and I still get misty eyed when I remember him and the fun we had and what we would have done had he lived.

The comment is incorrect. There were four people in the car. One was my mother, Ruby Sue Welch who was 21, her fiance 26 Eldon Sam Watkins, the driver unknown age, and Martha Watkins, 23. They were not drunk, and and only one was a service man. All but the driver of my mothers car were killed.
