Stanley Paul Melson

Stanley "Stan" Paul Melson passed peacefully on January 27, 2017 in his home. He was born July 22, 1944 to Paul and Flois Melson in Clarksville, Arkansas. Stan grew up in the Kansas City area raised by Flois and Norman Sherwood.

Stan attended North Kansas City High School graduating in 1962. After high school he joined the Navy, serving four years during the Vietnam War. Upon his return Stan held a number of maintenance positions in such industries as garment and entertainment. Stan also owned and operated North East Bowling Lanes with two friends.

Stan spent several years performing stand up comedy both in paid gigs and as a volunteer performing at nursing homes. Stan was protector and big brother to his sister, Shirrel (Melson) Knox and beloved Uncle Deek to his two nieces, Becky Lee and Laura May. Family and friends could always count on Stan for a humorous story or joke. Stan was a hard worker with a heart of gold, always willing to help someone in need. Stan was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.

Martha Chapman (Davis)

I don't believe I had any classes with Stan but he sounds like a great guy.  I'm sure he is greatly missed by family and friends.  Wish I had heard some of his comedy routines, can always use a good laugh.
