Rich/Bill,

Do you plan to keep this site up post-reunion?

Dave

Hi everyone,

I'm so sorry I couldn't make it to the reunion.  It just wasn't meant to be this time.  I hope it was a huge success and will see you all in another 10 years!

Wow, what can I say.  The planning preparations, the website, the tour of the high school, the dinner itself was outstanding.  A job well done.  Bill and I were so proud to be part of such a wonderful school and to have fellow classmates like you all.  We had a wonderful time.  It was great to see everyone.  May God richly bless us with another 10 years.

Thank you to all who put the reunion together!

Lots of great comments and laughs made it a great evening!

Lots of memories that were lost in the memory bank came to surface again!

Life becomes so busy we lose track of time and friends.

May friendships be restored for years to come!

All the pictures that Ernie and I took are on Martha Lowrey and facebook from the reunion.

God bless you all!  Martha Watts Lowrey

Bill & I, too, had a great time at the reunion!  The planning that must have gone into an event like that is mind boggling!  If you had anything at all to do with all the work that was done, please, give yourself a pat on the back.  It was amazing from the casual, comfortable gathering at Paul & Jacks on Friday, the great tour of the school on Sat morning where we were able to relive our high school years by walking the halls, visit the field house where I saw where I used to sit in Pep Club and even visit the football field and the new brick yard, to the sumptuous meal and dancing on Sat evening.   We enjoyed every minute!  BRAVO TO THE COMMITTEE!!!

My only regret is that we came up missing our camera on Monday morning.  Who knows where we layed it down!!  I know we did not take it to the dinner and dance Sat. evening, but if anyone found a Cannon digital camera in an orange zipper case, please let us know!  I hate to think that we lost all those photos!

Thanks again to the Committee!  Looking forward to 2022!!

What a great weekend-Paul and Jacks, school tour, woman's luncheon and finally Sat night.  Thanks to everyone on the committee that did so much planning and work making the reunion a great success.  Well worth the trip from No Carolina...Great seeing all...

I want to echo the comments of other classmates that this was not only a terrific reunion but I think the best yet!  I know lots of work went into the planning, especially the website and name tags (thanks, Rich!), and I believe that the committee's effors were richly rewarded.  It was fun to meet everyone and to guess how they looked 50 years ago!  Sicily in 2014?

I just wanted to say if my father had been here with us he would have enjoyed seeing you all again. We grew up hearing his stories of his high school days. I'm glad you all had such a great time.

Ruth, and I really enjoyed the Reunion this year. My hat is off to the committee for such a great job in all aspects of putting it together. My only request is that we show a little more Love and respect for God, and our great Country. Maybe display our Flag, and recite the Pledge of Alliance to our great nation, and a Benediction to God for our Health, our Safe Arrival, and the opportunity to renew old acquaintances. You see, without God we have nothing!

To all my Classmates, I would like to share with you my favorite "Irish Blessing", I'm sure you know it, but it goes this way:

May the Road rise to meet you,

May the Wind always be at your back,

May the Sun Shine warm upon your face,

The Rain fall gently upon your fields,

and until we meet again,

May God hold you in the Palms of His Hands.

May God Bless us all.                                   Harold, and Ruth Boan

Growing old has taught me that not only is my memory failing, but that not taking care of my yearbook was a mistake.  While I only went to NKCHS for my JR and SR years, and I didn't make many friends due to being a bit shy and as importantly living far out in the sticks(we called it 90th and Plum or Plum out in the sticks).  Stepdad worked nights, and he had the only car.  Did know a few people but can't remember who,  several signed my Yearbook, now if I had just kept it, I would remember who I knew:)  I was setting out in front of the room before the reunion and looking at name tags, talking to my wife and saying, I haven't even seen the next door neighbor(who would have lived about a mile up the street) just then looked over and saw the tag Roy Sparks,  said hey fella remember me, No says Roy and I proceeded to re-introduce myself.  Ended up being the only one I remembered, so if I just had that yearbook with those signatures and little notes:) aw ain't life , um well I don't know how to define it, but my 68 years have been blessed, hope yours has as well.

Rich,

Thanks for posting the pictures.

One observation -- are we sure that Mr. Leimkuhler wasn't a classmate and not a teacher??!  He's certainly aged well.

For those of you who want to continue the connections you re-established at the class reunion, Gus Leimkuhler "hosts" a monthly alumni lunch at Paul & Jack's on the first Monday of the month.  (If that Monday is a holiday, it's held the following Monday.)  Come between 12:30 and 1:00 for lunch and conversation.  All alumni welcome of each gender!  See you there!

To the reunion committee:

Words don't describe the job you all did on the reunion.  There were times I considered not attending, for whatever reason.  I am so happy I did.  It was such a wonderful time. and the total experience was made possible because of all the work you all put into the reunion.  So from the bottom of my heart,   thank you so very much for making this a very special time in my life.  "WE ARE THE GREATEST NKC CLASS."

Didn't make the reunion...looked like fun...but feel like I was able to participate a bit through this web site...Thanks for all the work...What a mamouth task!  Because of the site, I did reconnect with some folks here on the west coast and actually met Maurine Davis for lunch last Saturday. She brought her computer and I brought my yearbook, so we went through naming some of you...What a great bunch of people!...Glad to be able to keep up...Thanks again to the committee and especially to Mr. Hawkins... "Ya dun good!"     J

Dec. 14 at the NKC School District Centennial Celebration, I hope someone will take pictures and post them here for those of us who live too far away to easily attend! That is such lovely news that one of our own classmates has donated a bell for the event which will be installed that day! Thank you!

I don't know who donated the Bell in honor of our class, but whomever that person is I want to thank you for your generosity in honoring our class.  The reunion was so fantastic and it was so great to see everyone.

ALSO A "VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HEALTHY AND WONDERFUL NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.  MAY WE ALL MEET AGAIN IN THE NEAR FUTURE."

The memorial wall and bell look great. Thanks for the pictures.

And since the secret seems to be out, many thanks to Ed Rule for the bell donation.

The bell's fabulous, don't you think?  Kinda sets the Class of '62 apart from all the others.  CLINK! CLANK! What was that?  Oh, just the air conditioner kicking back on.  All you classmate stay warm and out of the snow drifts.  Hope to see some of you next year
